SELECT DIVISION IV – Thursday December 7th, 2023 3:30 PM

#2 SOUTHERN LAB KITTENS (11-1) VS #5 RIVERSIDE REBELS (12’1)

It was a nail bitter the last three minutes of the Kittens Semi Final game as they took on the #1 team in Select Division IV bracket Ouachita Christian.  The Kittens erased a 15 point deficit in the 4th quarter to take the lead.  A pivotal pick 6 by Miami Commit Senior DB/ATH Dylan Day sealed the road win to advance the Kittens to the Championship game. This will be Southern Lab’s 8th time to make it to the Finals, taking home Five (5) State Titles and finishing runner up three times. Under head coach Darrell Asberry, Southern Lab, has been a top team in their classification each year and they are back in 2023 as a dominant force on the playing field.

#3 OAK GROVE TIGERS (11-2) VS #4 HAYNESVILLE GOLDEN TORNADO

If you want to talk about Powerhouse Programs in Louisiana, Oak Grove would be at the tope of the list.  Head Coach Ryan Gregory is in his 10th year at Oak Grove and holds 102-30 record. Oak Grove will return for its 12th trip to the state championship game, with 7 state titles and 5 runner-up titles.  2023 will mark the third trip to The Dome for the Tigers in five years.  Junior quarterback Jackson Bradley, La Tech Commit, is no stranger to the bright lights of the Superdome.  He is the leader of an offense that averages 43 points per game.  His favorite targets are the dynamic duo of Brodie Stewart and Jay Freeman.  As the norm Oak Grove always has a clutch running back in the backfield and that would Quan Ruffin.

The Tigers are averaging 43.2 points offensively per game and defensively only allowing 20.3 points per game.

The Haynesville Golden Tornado’s are back in the Dome after a being absent since 2016.  The Golden Tors have 17 championship titles in their trophy case, with 26 total appearances to the big game.  The Tornado’s are lead by head coach David Franklin, who is in his 22nd year at the school and holds a record of 219-63.

It will be a battle of Legacy vs Legacy, as both teams have a big history participating in the big game!

Haynesville averages 37.9 points per game offensively while defensively they hold their opponents to an average of 15.1 points per game.
