Round 2 DIV. III LHSAA Football Playoffs – Friday Night Light’s Game Of The Week – Dunham Tigers host Parkview Baptist Eagles

GAME HIGHLIGHTS:

Friday Night Light’s GOTW was what high school football is all about.   Explosive offensive plays and physical timely defensive plays.

Dunham jumped out to 12-0 lead in the first quarter with two rushing touchdowns by freshman quarterback Elijah Haven.  Parkview would then answer when senior quarterback Abram Johnston would wiggle loose from defenders and throw a strike to Brock Comeaux, who would take it the rest of the way for an Eagle touchdown.  Johnston would find Comeaux again with 8:07 left in the second quarter for a 38 yard pass and catch. At the 4:21 mark of the second quarter Johnston would keep for an Eagle touchdown to bring the score to 21-12 PBS.  Dunham would answer with Haven taking the snap and taking it in for a Tigers touchdown, 18-21 PBS.  After a big hit and taking a play off, Johnston would return to the playing field and delivers another dime pass to Brock Comeaux with 30 seconds left to take the score to 28-18 Eagles.

The second half proved to be even more intense with big plays from both sides of the ball for both teams.  The Tigers defense would hold Parkview to a field goal on their first offensive drive.  The momentum in the game would then turn as it would became the Haven to Comeaux show.  Elijah Have would connect with Jac Comeaux for back to back touchdown to tie the game up at the 10:42 mark of the fourth quarter.  An extra point would put the Tigers in the lead 32-31.  But, the Eagles and Johnston were not finished, as he would find Jack Herrington in the corner of the endzone.  A 2 point conversion would put the Eagles up 39-32 with 7:52 left in the game.

In the end one more offensive play one more defensive stop were the answers for the Parkview Eagles as they would take the win over the Tigers 39-32.

The offensive play for the Eagles came with 7:52 left to play in the game when Abram Johnston found Jack Herrington in the back of the endzone for a go ahead touchdown (37-32), then Johnston added a two point conversion to bring the score to 39-32 PBS.

The defensive play for the Eagles that was the difference maker was with 5 minutes left in the game.  Defensive back Gavin Daniel wrapped had a rushing touchdown at the 4:21 mark of the second quarter and that would be the  quarterback Elijah Haven for a 7 yard loss and forced a punt to give the ball back to the Eagles.

The Eagles (10-2) advance to play No. 2 seed Calvary Baptist (11-0) in the quarterfinal round of the LHSAA Div. III Playoffs.

Brock Comeaux – PBS Sr. WR – Three TD’s over 136 yards receiving

Elijah Haven – Dunham School, Fr, QB over 200 yards passing, 92 yards rushing, 2 passing TD’s, 3 rushing TD’s

Jac Comeaux – Dunham School – Sr. WR 2 receiving TD’s, 116 yards receiving

Player Of The Game: 

Parkview Baptist Eagles 2024 QB Abram Johnston who passed for more than 260 yards and four passing touchdowns, he also added one rushing TD and a 2 pt. conversion on the night for the Eagles
