Round One Of The LHSAA Playoffs Had Some Teams Dancing – Central High Wildcats

It was a first round road trip that turned out to be a dance on the gridiron.  Central Wildcats pulled an away game in the first round to play the higher seed East St. John.

It was the dueling of the Wildcats that saw one team running away with the ball, and the game.

Senior running back Damon Blocker was the talk of the game and the town on Friday night.  Blocker could not be contained on the field and finished the game with over 200 yards of the Wildcats 300 yards rushing.  He also surpassed 1,000 on the season.

Central’s game plan was executed perfectly on the field by controlling the clock and keeping the ball from East St. John.

Damon Blocker took the Player of the Game honors for Central with a 210 yards rushing and three touchdowns.

Junior quarterback Jackson Firmin, of Central, ended the night with 8 of 11 passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.  He also rushed for 40 yards.

Lorenzo Zeno took Player of the Game Honors for East St. John, as he passed 100 yards on the night and added 25 yards rushing.

Final Score – Central Wildcats 43 East St. John 15  Central will travel to Neville for the second round of the 2023 LHSAA Playoffs.
