Louisiana High School Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2027
BATON ROUGE, La. — The Louisiana High School Hall of Fame has announced its Class of 2027, recognizing 10 individuals whose accomplishments and contributions have left a lasting mark on Louisiana high school athletics.
The 2027 class represents a wide range of roles within high school athletics, including coaches, competitors and officials. Collectively, the class has produced state championships, All-American honors, professional careers, distinguished coaching records and decades of service to Louisiana’s student-athletes and athletic programs.
The Class of 2027 includes David Anderson, Don Boniol, Early Doucet, Greg Gautreaux, Kim “Gidge” Guidry, Adrienne Johnson, Temeka Johnson, Jimmy Lee Jones, Sivi Elsensohn Miller and Rusty Rugg.
The Louisiana High School Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Thursday, April 15, 2027, at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge. Additional information regarding tickets and the event will be released closer to the ceremony.
David Anderson | Coach | Ruston High School
David Anderson has built a coaching career spanning multiple states and decades, with a significant portion of his career spent at Ruston High School. Anderson served as head track coach at Ruston from 1991-2005 and again from 2006-2011, following earlier coaching stops at St. Frederick and Neville High Schools.
During his Louisiana coaching career, Anderson guided teams to five boys’ cross country state championships, two girls’ cross country state championships, two boys outdoor track and field state championships and one girl’s outdoor track and field state championship. His teams also earned numerous state runner-up finishes.
Anderson has been named LSWA Track Coach of the Year four times and has twice been nominated for NFHS National Coach of the Year. He is also a member of the Ark-La-Tex Track Hall of Fame and Bossier High School Hall of Fame and is a two-time recipient of the LTFCA Lifetime Achievement Award.
Don Boniol | Coach | Alexandria Senior High School
Don Boniol’s coaching career has included more than five decades of service across multiple sports and schools. After beginning his career at Holy Savior Menard, Boniol coached at Bolton High School before spending nearly two decades at Alexandria Senior High School.
As the head baseball coach at Alexandria Senior High, Boniol recorded 383 wins and led the Trojans to state championships in 1988 and 1989. His teams also finished as state runners-up twice, reached the state semifinals seven times and won 16 district championships. The 1989 team completed an undefeated season, while the 1990 team was ranked among USA Today’s Top 25 prep teams.
Boniol was twice named State Baseball Coach of the Year and served as Executive Director of the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association from 1992-97. He was inducted into the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2018.
Early Doucet | Competitor | St. Martinville Senior High School
Early Doucet was a standout three-sport athlete at St. Martinville Senior High School, lettering in football, basketball and track. A member of the Class of 2004, Doucet earned All-State honors in football in 2003 and 2004 and was named a Parade, USA Today and U.S. Army Bowl All-American in 2004.
Doucet was named the 2004 Louisiana Football Gatorade Player of the Year and was ranked as the No. 1 football athlete in Louisiana. He was also recognized by major recruiting publications as one of the nation’s top receivers and a top five overall football prospect nationally.
Doucet continued his career at LSU, earning Freshman All-SEC honors in 2004 and Second Team All-SEC honors in 2006. He was a member of LSU’s 2007 BCS National Championship team before beginning his professional career with the Arizona Cardinals in 2008, reaching Super Bowl XLIII.
Greg Gautreaux | Official
Greg Gautreaux has dedicated decades to athletics as an educator, administrator and official at high school, college and professional levels.
A graduate of Teurlings High School and the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Gautreaux began his professional career as a teacher before serving as Director of Parks for Lafayette Parish and later as Athletic Programs Manager for Lafayette Consolidated Government.
Gautreaux’s service to the LHSAA includes more than three decades as a baseball, basketball and football official with the Lafayette Association. He officiated multiple LHSAA state championship events, including football state championship games, 22 Top 28 basketball games and eight baseball state championship games.
His career also extended to the collegiate and professional levels. Gautreaux officiated NCAA Division I football, men’s and women’s basketball and baseball across several conferences before becoming an NFL official from 2002-2021. He officiated Super Bowl XLIII, two NFC Championship Games and 11 Wild Card and Divisional Playoff games.
A fun fact connecting two of the 2027 inductees: Greg Gautreaux worked as a field judge in the Super Bowl that fellow 2027 inductee Early Doucet played in.
Kim “Gidge” Guidry | Coach | Vermilion Catholic High School
Kim “Gidge” Guidry spent more than four decades serving as a coach at Vermilion Catholic High School, including 40 years as the school’s head girls’ basketball coach.
Guidry’s girls’ basketball teams captured two state championships, in 1999 and 2013, and finished as state runners-up in 2016 and 2019. Her teams won 17 district championships, and Guidry finished her head coaching career with a 936-323 record.
She was named State Girls Basketball Coach of the Year three times and District Girls Basketball Coach of the Year 13 times. In addition to basketball, Guidry served as head coach in several other sports at Vermilion Catholic, including golf, tennis, track, softball, cross country and gymnastics.
Adrienne Johnson | Competitor | Franklin Senior High School
Adrienne Johnson was a four-sport standout at Franklin Senior High School, earning letters in basketball, track, volleyball and softball. She was a four-time All-State selection in both basketball and track and earned All-District honors in basketball, track and volleyball.
Johnson was named the 2007 Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year and Class 3A Basketball MVP. In track, she won the high jump and triple jump state championships in 2006 and the triple jump again in 2007.
Her success continued at the collegiate and professional levels. Johnson was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2011 and earned All-Conference and All-Defense honors three times. She was also named an AP All-American honorable mention selection in 2011 before being drafted by the Connecticut Sun. Johnson went on to play professionally in Bulgaria and Italy, earning first-team honors in both leagues.
Temeka Johnson | Competitor | Bonnabel High School
Temeka Johnson established herself as one of Louisiana’s premier high school basketball players during her career at Bonnabel High School. A four-year All-State selection, Johnson finished her high school career with 2,952 points, 792 rebounds and 1,042 assists.
In one of the most remarkable individual performances of her high school career, Johnson recorded a quadruple-double with 62 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 10 steals in a single game. She was also selected as the MVP of the LHSCA All-Star Game.
Johnson continued her career at LSU, where she established school and SEC records with 945 assists. She earned the Nancy Lieberman Award, was named a USWBA First Team All-American and AP Second Team All-American in 2005 and was a two-time First Team All-SEC selection. She also served as LSU’s team captain for three seasons.
Johnson was selected sixth overall in the first round of the 2005 WNBA Draft and was named WNBA Rookie of the Year after leading the league in assists. She later led the WNBA in three-point percentage in 2012 and played professionally overseas in Israel, Poland, France, Russia, Turkey and Spain.
Jimmy Lee Jones | Coach/Official | Riverside Academy High School
Jimmy Lee Jones has made a lasting impact on Louisiana athletics as both a coach and official. His coaching career included 14 seasons as head boys’ basketball coach at Carroll High School, where he compiled a 300-50 record and led the Eagles to the 1982 state championship.
Jones’ Carroll teams were nationally ranked in 1982, 1985 and 1986. He later returned to coaching as head girls’ basketball coach at Carroll High School in 2017-18, leading the program to a 46-13 record and earning State Girls Basketball Coach of the Year honors.
His officiating career spanned 37 years in high school football and 35 years in high school basketball. He also played SWAC football for 25 years. Jones was recognized with the Butch Lambert Award for High School Referee of the Year and has also served as an assistant coach for the McDonald’s All-Star Boys Basketball Game.
Sivi Elsensohn Miller | Coach | St. Joseph’s Academy
Sivi Elsensohn Miller established one of the most successful volleyball programs in Louisiana during a coaching career that spanned more than three decades.
After coaching at Archbishop Hannan, Cabrini and Redemptorist, Miller spent 18 seasons as the head volleyball coach at St. Joseph’s Academy. Her teams won five state championships, in 2001, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2013, while finishing as state runners-up six times.
Miller completed her head volleyball coaching career with a 901-357 record. During all 18 of her seasons at St. Joseph’s Academy, her teams went undefeated in district play.
A four-time LVCA State Coach of the Year, Miller was also selected as an LHSCA All-Star Volleyball Coach six times and received recognition from the AVCA for reaching 800 career wins. She is a member of the St. Joseph’s Academy Hall of Fame and Bernard Parish Hall of Fame.
Rusty Rugg | Competitor | Downsville High School
Rusty Rugg was a standout baseball and basketball athlete at Downsville High School, earning All-State honors in baseball four consecutive years from 1986-89.
Rugg’s high school baseball career included a .034 ERA, 19 no-hitters and 44 wins, all listed among Louisiana’s top marks in the provided records. His five no-hitters in a single season ranked first in both Louisiana and nationally, while he also posted a 0.00 ERA as a member of the 1988 USA Baseball 18U Gold Medal team.
Rugg was named Louisiana Baseball Gatorade Player of the Year in 1989 and was a three-time Class B Baseball State MVP from 1987-89.
Following his high school career, Rugg was selected in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers.

The Louisiana High School Hall of Fame Class of 2027 represents generations of excellence across Louisiana high school athletics. From championship coaches and accomplished officials to athletes who went on to collegiate, professional and national success, each member of the class has contributed to the legacy of high school athletics in Louisiana.
The Class of 2027 will be formally inducted during the Louisiana High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on April 15, 2027, at the Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge. Ticket information and additional event details will be released closer to the ceremony.
