When you could think LSU could pack in enough talent in one of their OL./DL and Skills Camps, let’s have camp #2 with just as much talent.

June is college camp month and a time for high school players to show their skills to college coaches, as well as, learn from a number of talented college coaches.

Zalance “Lance” Heard was the top offensive linemen of the OL/DL camp.  At 6’6″ 305 pounds, Heard dominated the competition.  Long body length, with arms that measure 36 inches, are major upsides for the Monroe Big Man.  Excellent footwork, arm strength, and dominating stature are his top qualities.  Currently he is listed as a four star prospect and holds offers from LSU, Texas Tech, Florida St., La Tech, Louisiana, USC, Baylor, Kansas, TCU, Texas, Ole Miss, Louisville, Ok State, Colorado, Michigan to name a few.

Evaluation: big wide body frame, long arms, fires off the ball and is like a mac truck a the point of contact, explosive, quick feet, follows the play well, maintains his gap, speed to the sideline.  2020-2021, 2021-2022 2X LSWA All State, 2X All District, LFCA All State

Archbishop Rummel’s, junior defensive back, Ashton Stamps (6’2″ 180) was the talk of the Skills Camp.  Stamps showed that he is one of the top DB’s in Louisiana.  After two great days at camp he was rewarded with an offer from the Tigers.

Stamps worked out at corner and safety during the two day camp.  He was very fluid on the field and used his long body length and athleticism to shutdown passing lanes.  Very good skill set overall.  He holds offers from: LSU, Grambling St., La Tech, Missouri, Nebraska, Nicholls St., Tulane, UTSA, Troy to name a few.

St. Martinville’s 2023 wide receiver Harvey Broussard showed why he is a top wide receiver in the 2023 Class.  His strong hands and long length creates large catching radius.  At 6’3″ 170 pounds he still has room for development as a route runner.  Very natural feel for the ball and fluid on the football field.  He doesn’t mind getting physical with the defender and will win the battle during tight coverage, a majority of the time.

New Southern Mississippi Golden Eagle commit, Jonathan Bax lined up at both defensive end and also as an outside linebacker.  Bax has been showing his speed, agility, and explosiveness from the OLB position during camps this summer.  He has caught the attention of college coaches with his versatility on the defensive side of the ball. At 6’3″ 235 he has the natural fit for the linebacker position and still has space to grow and develop his body.  Offers: La Tech, Grambling St., Incarnate Word, Southeastern La. Univ., Troy, So. Miss., Colorado, Purdue, Louisville, S. Alabama, Nebraska, Tulane, McNeese St., Northwestern St. (LA),

HOT PROSPECTS FROM THE CLASS OF 2024:

Ju’Juan Johnson is the hottest prospect in the Class of 2024 right now in Louisiana.  He has exploded onto the summer camp circuit, playing mostly as a defender.  His outstanding skill set and athlestism has earned him offer from LSU and Alabama lately, to just name a few of the latest schools to offer him. the likes of LSU and Alabama, among others. Johnson plays quarterback for his high school team, Lafayette Christian Academy, but is being recruited as a cornerback at the next level. 2021 1st Team All District All Metro District MVP All State. Evaluation: explosive quarterback with a strong arm and pinpoint accuracy, will also tuck and run the ball when needing to pick up the first down. Very positive mentality, hard worker, and high football IQ. Being recruited as an ATH or on defense, as well as, special play situations

Terrebonne High School’s 2024 wide receiver Kylan Billiot is a name to have on every college coaches watchlist.  He is a two sport standout and his natural athletic movements and body frame help him standout from the competition.  He still has plenty of room for future development, very high ceiling.

OUT OF STATE PLAYERS THAT ALSO STOODOUT:

Little Rock Christian’s (AR) 2024 QB Walker White (6’3″ 225) – earned an offer from the Tigers after an outstanding camp performance.

Long Beach Ply (CA) 2023 Daylen Austin (LSU Commit) – feisty corner that has quick hips and lighting fast speed to break to the ball.  Covers ground very quickly and a solid athlete.
