2A Powerhouse Many Tigers take over to dominate East Feliciana in 4th Quarter

Small town feel and hometown folks is what it is all about at East Feliciana.  As the families and friends gathered for a 2nd Round Playoff game against the Many Tigers, expectations were high that this group of young men, from East Feliciana High School, could stand up to one of the, historically, most powerful teams in Louisiana Football.

Talking to those that have been around the East Feliciana program for a long time, it was very clear that they believed this group of young men and those who would follow would fight to the bitter end looking for a win each time they touched the field.  That is the mentality of the East Feliciana Tigers football team.

What many high school football followers may not have known is, this game would play host to numerous Division I prospects and many other players who have the ability to play at the next level in other divisions of college football.

However, you didn’t see the college coaches lining up on the sidelines watching prospects.  What you saw were coaches, teammates, parents, families, friends, and all the support staff that stand by these young men, day in and day out, as they would fight it out on the biggest battlefield in high school, The Football Field.

East Feliciana was defiant and relentless as their defense created big defensive stops through three quarters of play.  Their offense would make explosive plays one after another.  It was a close game that had everyone on the edge of their seats at times. Who would step up?  Who would make the next big play?

Coaches on both sides of the field encouraging and willing their players to keep fighting for every inch that they would move, whether it be offensively or defensively.

In the end, 2A Powerhouse Many Tigers would prevail.  Don’t let the score foul you, this was a close game and tensions where high on both sides of the field for a majority of the game. Not one player that stepped on that field Friday night went home with a clean jersey.  It was grit, grind and all out physical from the start to the end.

Ultimately, Many would score 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter that would catapult them to the win over the East Feliciana Tigers – 51-22.

Junior cornerback Jayvion “Jay” Smart would be the MVP of the game. Smart received the game ball from the Many coaching staff. He tallied up 3 interceptions, several pass breakups, and one pick 6 on the night for the Many Tigers.

Many used every bit of arsenal it had offensively as Four Star and junior Tackett Curtis would take the snaps at quarterback for the evening.  Curtis also played linebacker on the defensive side of the ball.  The running back attack, London Williams and Jeremiah James, combined for 328 yards on the night.  London Williams, a senior for Many, came into the game with over 2,100 yards rushing on the season with 36 TD’s for the year.  Sophomore running back Jeremiah James had tallied up almost 1,200 yards rushing on the season and 13 TD’s going into the game Friday night.

Many (11-1) will face Rosepine (11-1) at home next week.  The game will surely be “The Game of The Week” in quarterfinal action of the LHSAA 2A Playoffs.
